It will be a difficult time for most, but others will see it as an opportunity and we’ll be right here ready to talk though your potential projects. Stay safe and see you all soon!

Exterior visual of UNI restaurant Canggu

Jun 2019

When the much loved Urchin restaurant in Seminyak closed its doors in 2016, it was sad times for anyone who’d been. Amazing food, great cocktails – it’s been missed.

But sure enough, good things come to those who wait. A mere four years later head chef Steven Skelly is back and opening up a new spot in Canggu, Hurrah!

We’ve designed the architecture and interiors for the new space, which includes an open cooking area, sit up eating bar, a regular bar and terrace area.

Construction started in March this year, so get prepared for your belly to be happy again you very soon.

Visualisation of 4 modern townhouses designed in Bali

Together Again

May 2019

On behalf of our client M Development, we've had the pleasure of teaming up with James Brown once again. We worked with James on the Tropicola beach club last year. This time, we are collaborating on the design of these four townhouses located in Berawa, Canggu.

If you're in the market for a home in Bali, you may want to wait until you've seen these. We hope to break ground in late 2019.

Renovations - easy right?

May 2019

Renovation projects. From the outset, they seem straight forward enough (building’s already there, what could go wrong?) but they rarely are. We’re all for them because they’re one of the most sustainable ways to build. But inevitably lots of things come up with an existing building that you can’t foresee.

We’ve been working away at this renovation project of the new Masillia villas in Seminyak for a few months now. There were 10 bedrooms over three tired looking properties. Our job was to bring all three up to scratch for today’s savvy travelers, within a very tight time frame. It’s been a push, but the first two villas are now finished and looking glorious. We worked with Bali Landscaping Company on the tropical gardens. And all materials, finishing's and furniture were sourced and handmade right here in Bali, giving all future guests the all-round island crafted feel.

Two down, one more to go.

Shipping container development with shops and restaurants

A container park in Barbados? Yes.

Dec 2018

Inspired by the shipping container malls by Boxpark in London, our client wanted to come up with a similar type of social experience, but in Barbados. So we’re in the midst of developing a concept which shows off the shipping container in all its urban, industrial glory. But in a way that also brings in the sunshine and tropical lushness of the Caribbean.

We’re planning for the finished build to have two main zones –a food and beverage section with a live music stage. And a technology hub - with offices, co-working spaces, meeting rooms and shared areas for young creatives and entrepreneurs setting up in business. We’re hoping construction starts soon - site visit to the Caribbean anyone?

Birds eye view of Dive resort on beach in Nusa Penida Island in Bali

Dive all day, sleep all night

Nov 2018

Divers, snorkelers and anyone who likes the sound of 3800m2 of pristine beach, we think this might be for you. We’ve started design work on a special new dive resort on the north-coast of Nusa Penida island. Construction for the resort starts at the end of 2019. They plan to open with some rooms, a restaurant, bar and the dive centre first. Then more rooms, a spa and the yoga pavilion finished by the end of 2020.

Nusa Penida is one of the best dive and snorkeling spots around Bali. Its attracted day trippers for a while now, who come to see the manta rays, whale sharks and Mola-Mola that can be seen all year round. If you ever find yourself in the area and fancy a visit to the island, you can find out more about Nusa Penida below.

The Bali villa brand on everyone’s lips

Nov 2018

Mandala is the villa brand about town. Through their properties in Canggu, Uluwatu and Lembongan they’ve built a reputation for pretty exceptional villa stays. Now on their list – the newest Mandala in Berawa.

We’ve designed this latest high-end 5 bedroom property to be suitable for group stays, retreats and events. We’ll be breaking ground later this year and should be finishing by the end of 2020. So if you’ve got a wedding or event in the planning, this place will probably be worth the wait.

The Yak loves…

Nov 2018

The 14th annual Yak awards were held this year at Morabito Beach in Berawa, Bali. We’re chuffed to see that two of our recently finished beach club projects won awards on the night. Ulu Cliffhouse for 'Best Newcomer 2018' and Tropicola won 'Best Interior Design of a Restaurant'. Very well-deserved ladies and gents.

Staying true Italiano

Nov 2018

Our latest restaurant collaboration with the guys at Bottega Italiana is now open. This fourth branch is on Jalan Pantai Berawa in Canggu. The space is designed with an open kitchen, their signature arched windows and a concrete spiral staircase leading to an upper level. A pasta making station sits in the centre of the space, so customers can witness their fresh pasta in the making. The design, colours, material palette and finishes all tie in to their other locations, staying true to what the Bottega brand is about.
