Kedara House

  1. Private Villa
  2. Selemadeg, Tabanan, Bali
  3. Currently for sale off-plan
  4. 2350m2

We designed Kedara as a holiday and retreat villa. It’s in a pretty special, un-spoilt spot in West Bali so it was important that we were sensitive to this and the natural resources in the area.

It’s been designed so that natural light and ventilation would fill each room, with big floor to ceiling openable glass doors and windows. The bamboo screen around the upstairs can be folded back or wrapped around the house to provide shade and privacy.

All of the materials for Kedara are local, like the Bali red brick, the split bamboo and reclaimed ironwood. All of the concrete used on the house is Green Sense – which replaces steel rebar with synthetic reinforcement fibres, providing an efficient and energy saving structural solution.

Solar panels are fitted to Kedara’s green roof (helping to keep it cool). We also designed a rain water catching system around the house, which would store enough water to keep the gardens and green roof watered for most of the year.
