About
In a green, rural setting in the South-West of Bali, the Kaba-Kaba Project is our design response to a need for change in villa development in Bali.
Four family homes, each slowly crafted and detailed, nestled in to 2,918 m2 of grounds and gardens, surround a shared, central community well-being space.
Design
Home and villa design in Bali needs to slow down and be re-considered. It is not currently answering people’s well-being needs or the environmental issues on the island.
With sustainability (both in design and operation), local natural materials and local craftsmanship at the heart of the Kaba-Kaba project, we aim to create and facilitate a residential community.
Access to the community will be via a private three metre wide road, at the end of which, you’re greeted by a 24-hour manned security post. Once inside, four, two-storey family homes, carefully crafted and positioned at each corner of the site, will surround a central, shared well-being space. This space includes a 20-metre natural water pool, gym, sauna, cold plunge, yoga space, shared open kitchen and dining, a produce garden and a kids nature play area. On the Eastern boundary of the land, two five bedroom houses will be nestled into the plot, while the Western boundary will be home to our two, four-bedroom houses.
Lush, tropical, green spaces and landscaping feature throughout the entire site, from the generous private gardens of the homes to the shared wellbeing areas, promoting biodiversity throughout. Tree canopies will provide lots of shade and help to keep outdoor spaces cool.
Location
Part of the Tabanan regency in the south west of Bali, Kaba-Kaba is a small and charming rural village seven kilometres from the coast, mainly surrounded by rice fields and coconut trees.
Village life in Kaba-Kaba is quiet, sleepy and peaceful. It is quintessential Bali and residents will see villagers getting on with their day to day - from making canang (flower offerings) at the temples, chatting in their bales (bamboo or wooden shelters) and working in the sawah (rice fields). But Kaba-Kaba is also only a 20 minute drive away from Canggu and 40 minutes from Seminyak. Both of these areas have some of the best known restaurants, cafes, bars, spas and wellness venues in Bali.
