MacDonald Villas comprises two compact two-bedroom rental villas located near Echo Beach in Canggu, Bali.

Positioned on a small site within this coastal neighbourhood, the architecture draws inspiration from simple mid-century forms with steep pitched roof profiles. These roof structures create generous double-height volumes, allow natural daylight to penetrate deep into the interiors, and provide protection from the intense tropical sun and seasonal rains.

The ground floor is organised as an open living space, combining a sunken lounge, kitchen and dining area that connects directly to the outdoor pool terrace. A swim-up pool bar extends the social space into the water, while large operable glazing allows the interior to open fully to the surrounding garden.

The upper level contains two mirrored ensuite bedrooms with shared balconies overlooking the pool and garden.

Material selections emphasise a relaxed coastal atmosphere, combining recycled teak panelling, natural stone cladding and textured plaster walls with a palette of soft, sun-faded interior tones.
