A large-scale beachfront venue translating a bold creative concept into a locally built environment.

Tropicola Beach Club was developed for the Mexicola Group as a large-scale beachfront hospitality venue in Seminyak, Bali.

The overall creative concept was developed by the Mexicola Group’s in-house design team. Our studio was engaged to translate this concept into a buildable project within the local context, leading the design development, construction documentation and site supervision.

The project comprises a multi-level beach club with three bars, two restaurant areas, an open barbecue kitchen, retail spaces, two swimming pools and a series of outdoor terraces overlooking the beach.

Working within an accelerated five-month construction programme, our role focused on adapting the design to local materials, fabrication methods and construction processes while coordinating a network of specialist makers and contractors across Bali. This included collaborations with fabricators and craftspeople responsible for lighting, metalwork, signage and custom detailing throughout the venue.

Tropicola Beach Club opened in 2018.
